ERA-NET COFUND BlueBioeconomy (2018-2023)

The BlueBioeconomy Cofund results from a collaboration between JPI Oceans and the previous ERA-NET COFASP and ERA-MBT bringing together 26 partners from 16 countries with the mission to:

  • Create synergies between aquaculture and fisheries (genetic evaluation and digitalization) and use biotechnology for the development of food traceability systems;
  • Unlocking the potential of the microbiome for the development of aquaculture, fisheries and food processing;
  • Apply recent ICT developments in blue biotechnology (IoT, machine learning, big data);
  • Promote innovation in the use of underutilized matter, waste from fisheries and aquaculture, with the goal of achieving zero waste.

The main objective of the Bluebioeconomy Cofund is to establish an R&I funding scheme that strengthens Europe's position in the blue economy context. The first co-funded Call was launched in December 2018.
