2nd Call FCT-AKDN: 21 selected projects

The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the Aga Khan Foundation have released the results of the 2nd joint Call , launched under the Scientific and Technological Cooperation Protocol between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education and Imamat Ismaili in 2016. The results are available for consultation here.

This edition of Call sought to support new initiatives and collaborations between Portuguese, African and AKDN scientific and academic research institutions, with the aim of developing international partnerships that contribute to strengthening research capabilities, encouraging and strengthening scientific, technical, human and social skills and capacities directed to the progress of Quality of Life in Africa.

Of the 203 eligible applications submitted, 42 passed to the 2nd stage of evaluation, and 21 applications were proposed for funding, spread over 13 African countries. The projects supported under this Call will have a duration of 36 months and represent a total investment of 5 million euros.

Like the ongoing projects of the 1st Call, the 21 projects will be monitored by an External Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, in order to ensure the achievement of the proposed scientific results and the desired impact on the Quality of Life of the African countries involved.
