3rd edition of Call Stimulus for Individual Scientific Employment

Applications to the 3rd edition of Call Estímulo ao Emprego Científico Individual (CEEC Individual), promoted by FCT, open today and will run until February 26. The Call has 300 vacancies for 6-year contracts with Ph. The contracts are distributed by four categories - junior, assistant, principal and coordinator.

The CEEC Individual is aimed at doctoral candidates in all scientific areas, who intend to carry out their scientific research or technological development activities in Portugal, in the institutions that make up the National System of Science and Technology (SNCT), namely: R&D units, state laboratories, Associate Laboratories, collaborative laboratories and technological interface centers, science and technology science infrastructures and also science and technology networks and consortia.

In the application, researchers must indicate their host institution and this must be associated with the respective application in the period between February 27 and March 18, 2020, because only in this way the application is considered complete. The evaluation will be carried out by an international panel, which will take into account the candidate's scientific background with emphasis on the last 5 years, which makes up 70% of the evaluation, and the proposed research plan, which corresponds to the remaining 30%. The contracts will be financed by FCT, and the candidates selected in Call will sign the contract directly with the host institution.

The Individual CEEC is one of the funding instruments for hiring researchers introduced by FCT in 2017, following the publication of Decree-Law No. 57/2016, which defines the regime for hiring doctorate holders, aimed at stimulating scientific and technological employment in all areas of knowledge. In the two editions already held, the CEEC Individual has already selected about 800 doctoral researchers to enter into employment contracts.
