Special support to R&D projects "Portugal and the Holocaust: research and memory

FCT has opened the applications for special support to R&D projects under the theme "Portugal and the Holocaust: research and memory", which aims to fund projects of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary nature under the Project Never Forget - National Program around the Memory of the Holocaust. Applications may be submitted until January 15, 2021.

Portugal became a member of the International Alliance for Holocaust Remembrance in December 2019 and, in line with the organization's mission, assumed a greater commitment to promoting the deepening of education, memory, and research on the subject. In this context, Holocaust Remembrance is the subject of Council of Ministers Resolution No. 51/2020 of June 25, and its program includes a set of initiatives to strengthen knowledge, preserve memory, and disseminate.

With the Holocaust and its conceptual framework as a reference, through the special support to R&D projects "Portugal and the Holocaust: research and memory", we intend to promote scientific research, developing new knowledge in several areas in a multidisciplinary perspective, with contributions from history, philosophy, human rights, religion studies, political science, law, sociology, literature, arts, in short, with the developments of social sciences and humanities, reinforcing its presence in the national scientific agenda.

The projects to be developed must necessarily produce results to be disseminated and communicated, including one or more of the following: databases with information collection; reports and working papers in open access; formal scientific publication submitted; educational resources: audiovisual, animation cinema, music, theater, others; information material for communication of the results produced; public presentation of results, if necessary using digital formats; availability of Documentary Description Instruments (inventories, catalogs).

This support has a budget allocation of 200 thousand Euros and the selected projects will be funded with a maximum limit of 40 thousand Euros per project, for a maximum duration of 12 months. The approved projects will be financed by national funds through the FCT budget.
