Safe Internet Center celebrates 10 years of activity

More than 130 countries celebrate, on February 6, Safer Internet Day 2018, which this year has the central theme "Create and share responsibly: a better internet starts with you". Portugal joins the celebrations with an event open to the public, in Braga, which also marks the 10 years of activity of the Safe Internet Center (CIS).

The event counts with the participation of different specialists, social actors and the partners of the Consortium of the Safe Internet Center (CIS), coordinated by the FCT - Foundation for Science and Technology and which also includes the DGE - Directorate-General of Education of the Ministry of Education, the IPDJ - Portuguese Institute for Sports and Youth, the PT Foundation and Microsoft Portugal.

During the morning, from 9:30 am at the Institute of Education of the University of Minho - Gualter Campus, will be presented the work done by the Center in terms of prevention, awareness and counseling, as well as in solving problems / issues presented by citizens. The CIS started operating in January 2007 and currently has two hotlines: the Safe Internet Line and the Alert Line, which can also be contacted through an online form.

Also up for debate will be topics such as the impact of access to the digital world everywhere, with the availability of wifi connections in different points and spaces. How can we contribute to a better internet and to a responsible use and sharing? Where is our data stored? What is the impact of APPs like 'GamerDating' on our relationships? - are still some of the questions in focus.
