The notice for the 2019 Competition for the Award of PhD Fellowships has been published. Applications run from February 28 to 5 pm on March 28, 2019. There will be 950 Fellowships, a number identical to last year and higher than that awarded in previous years.
This year, the submission of applications already allows the use of the new curricular platform CIÊNCIAVITAE, a single, personalized, simple, harmonized and structured curriculum, which will soon replace platforms such as FCT|SIG CV and DeGóis. In the same vein of administrative simplification, the presentation of bachelor's and master's degrees at the time of application is no longer required as an admissibility criterion. Only students who want to benefit from the points awarded according to their bachelor's and/or master's grades will have to present the documentation when applying.
The PhD Fellowships are subsidies awarded competitively to support the training of scientists in all areas of knowledge in obtaining the academic degree of PhD. They allow young researchers to dedicate themselves exclusively to their research, thus contributing to the scientific and technological development of the country. The FCT currently supports about 5 thousand Fellowships doctoral students.
Research work to be carried out by candidates under this call may be developed in any knowledge-intensive environment, namely in collaboration with companies and other public and private institutions, including the Public Administration. The host institutions may be R&D Units, State Laboratories, Associated Laboratories, Collaborative Laboratories or Interface Centers.
