Call of Studentships is open until March 28

The Call for the 2018 Doctoral Awards Studentships is now open. It runs from February 28 until 5pm on March 28, 2018, and will award 950 Studentships. This number consolidates a progressive increase in the number of doctoral Studentships awarded in the individual Calls , as well as in the total number of doctoral Studentships (Calls individual and FCT Doctoral Programs) awarded over the years.

The PhD Studentships are grants awarded competitively to support the training of scientists in all areas of knowledge to obtain the academic degree of PhD. The research work carried out under this Call can be developed in any knowledge-intensive environment, namely in collaboration with companies and other public and private institutions, including the Public Administration. Host institutions can be R&D Units, State Laboratories, Associate Laboratories, Collaborative Laboratories or Interface Centers.

In order to attract foreign researchers to the country, changes were made in the regulation that allow non-resident third country nationals to apply. They must, however, obtain a residence permit by the start date of Studentship. Another change to Call is that, following the analysis included in the OECD evaluation, a scientific coordination team is being created from Call.
