ESA is looking for astronaut candidates

The sky is the limit. If there has always been a dream of becoming an astronaut, the ESA can make it a reality. The European Space Agency recently opened Call for the selection of the next generation of astronauts. Applications can be made on the ESA website until May 28.

The last selection was in 2009 and brought together 6 astronauts. Among them was Thomas Pesquet, French astronaut, born in 1978, who appeals to the interest of the candidates and reminds that "one in a million" may be lucky enough to go into space.

For more information about this process, ESA is hosting a webinar on Thursday, April 22, the "ESA Astronauts Career Fair." This session is intended to teach you more about ESA's astronaut selection process. We will learn how the recruitment of an astronaut works, get to know details about the training of these professionals and also learn about the projects that the ESA has for the future, on the Moon, Mars and beyond. Registration is mandatory.

Portugal is a member of the European Space Agency since November 14, 2000. Over 20 years promoting the participation of national companies and R&DT institutes in ESA space programs, including those implemented under the ESA-European Union Framework Agreement.
