FCT mourns the death of Armando Trigo de Abreu, former President of the Institute for International Scientific and Technological Cooperation, in which the Department of International Relations and the FCT R&D Framework Programme Promotion Office have their origins.

He also collaborated with JNICT as a member of the Panel for Evaluation of Research and Development Programs. He was a graduate research assistant, assistant researcher and researcher at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC), from 1966 to 1986, and member of the Board of Directors of that institution from 1978 to 1980. He was also visiting assistant professor at ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, from 1986.

At this institution he was also a member of the Board of the Centre for African Studies from 1983 to 1984 and then from 1986 to 1995. He was also President of the Board of this Center from 1995 to 1996. To his family and friends, we offer our most sincere condolences for this priceless loss.
