FCT and Fulbright Commission strengthen collaboration

FCT and the Fulbright Commission - Commission for Educational Exchange between the USA and Portugal signed a new cooperation protocol, giving continuity to the collaboration between the two institutions and reinforcing the joint plan for awarding Studentships, in force since 2014.

In 2017under this protocol, 45 Studentships Fulbright will be granted with FCT support, with an emphasis on 30 new Studentships for Portuguese researchers and professors who intend to carry out research projects in universities or research centers in the United States.

The first Call under this new protocol runs from December 1st to December 31stand covers eight Studentships for professors who are benefiting from Studentship sabbatical leave offered by FCT. Applications should be made through the Fulbright Commission website. The joint plan for awarding Studentships will also include Studentships for PhDs for Portuguese in the US and Studentships for visiting American professors and researchers.

The protocol was signed on November 23 by the Presidents of the Boards of the Fulbright Commission and of FCT, Prof. João Queiroz and Prof. Paulo Ferrão, respectively, in a ceremony on the margins of the Fulbright Thanksgiving Dinner.

On the occasion, an agreement was also signed that defines the terms under which it will be possible to combine FCT research Studentships of various types with Studentships attributed by the Fulbright Commission.
