FCT opens up for debate White Paper on an R&D Agenda for the Atlantic

(Available only in English)

In recent months, FCT has promoted a series of international workshops for the definition of a research agenda for the Atlantic focused on the Azores, fostering north-south and transatlantic cooperation, with the aim of developing an international cooperation platform dedicated to integrated research in the areas of climate, earth observation, energy, space and oceans.

In these workshops, it has become increasingly clear that international research agencies, companies and policy makers from various countries and bodies are interested in developing an international base for this research in a privileged location in terms of geography and installed capacity: the Azores archipelago. It is therefore being proposed to create the Azores International Research Center - AIR Center - capable of bringing together scientific, technological and business interests.

FCT is now asking the Portuguese scientific community for contributions to the preliminary document that will serve as the basis for setting the agenda for the AIR Center. The document is available here, and contributions can be sent to AIR.workshops@fct.pt.
