FCT works with ÜberResearch to allow researchers to add their grants to ORCID

FCT and the ÜberResearch team have worked in the past weeks to make life a little easier for FCT-funded researchers.

FCT has recently adopted a unique digital identifier for each researcher - the ORCID iD - as a first step in moving towards a single national repository of researchers, organizations, scientific infrastructures, grants, fellowships and scientific, technological and cultural output. This national integrated information ecosystem will support research management by overcoming communication and interoperability issues that the several existing national (as well as institutional) systems show.

Grants and other funding awards are an important component of a researcher's output, so being able to add these to an ORCID record is valuable to researchers. However, manually adding grant data is cumbersome and was proving ineffective in generating high quality data, both in the ORCID and in the national repository. FCT and ÜberResearch worked together to solve this challenge, by integrating the data of FCT grants awarded since 2000 into the shared global ÜberResearch grants database. Researchers are now able to add their FCT grants to their ORCID profile, with just a few clicks.

The ÜberWizward for ORCID allows researchers to import information from other funding agencies, such as the NIH and NSF in the USA, UK Research Councils and the Wellcome Trust in the UK, and over 50 other agencies.
