Future of Particle Physics: CERN Council defines European Strategy

The CERN Council, in a session held on June 19, unanimously adopted the updated European strategy for the future of particle physics in Europe. The strategy includes recommendations that highlight the scientific, technological, economic and human capital potential of particle physics.

This update of the strategy proposes a vision for the near future and a long-term vision, seeking to maintain Europe's leading role in particle physics and in the innovative technologies being developed.

Considering the update of the strategy, on July 2, at 14:30, a session will be held in Portugal, at the Nuclear Technology Campus (CTN/IST), in Sacavém, which aims to address the impact of this new strategy in the country. The session will be attended by the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, and the remote intervention of the Director-General of CERN, Fabiola Gianotti.
