Portuguese researchers named fellows of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers

Researchers Mário Silveirinha and Nuno Borges, from the Institute of Telecommunications(IT), were named Fellows of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), for contributions to the electrodynamics of metamaterials and to the characterization and design of non-linear radio frequency circuits, respectively.

The award recognizes outstanding qualifications and experience in areas designated by IEEE, which elects up to 0.1% of its members annually as Fellows. The position is awarded only by invitation of the Board of Directors to members with outstanding individual contributions to the advancement of engineering, science and technology that contribute, at the same time, to adding value to society.
