L'Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science 2020

FCT, L'Oréal Portugal and the UNESCO National Commission have opened the application period for the L'Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science 2020, which is running until September 18, 2020.

In this year's edition, the theme in focus is research in the area of Climate Change, and one of the four medals that will be awarded will be primarily for a research proposal in the area of the Impact of Climate Change on Health or the Environment, considered relevant by the Jury of Call.

Call is intended for all female PhD candidates who have obtained their PhD degree less than 5 years before the opening date of Call and who will not be older than 35 by the end of the current year.

The individual prize to be awarded has a value of 15 thousand Euros, and the evaluation will be made by a jury constituted for this purpose, composed of scientists of recognized merit in the field of Call.

This initiative originates from a partnership between L'Oréal and UNESCO, entered into in 1998. The L'Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science were first awarded in 2004, in an initiative that brings together L'Oréal Portugal, the National UNESCO Commission and FCT. In 16 years, 53 young female researchers have been awarded in Portugal.
