MIT Portugal and UTAustin-Portugal open Calls for Exploratory Research Projects

In January, FCT opened applications to two Calls for Exploratory Research Projects, as part of the MIT Portugal and UTAustin-Portugal program partnerships. These Calls foresee the allocation of 3.2 million euros to fund 32 projects.

The exploratory research projects under the MIT Portugal Program are directed towards the development of products and services with high technological performance, between public and private partners and entities of the National Scientific and Technological System (SCTN). The areas of activity are: integrated research based on the context of the Atlantic International Research Centre (AIR Centre), sustainability and data management in urban systems, new industrial concepts and intelligent factories, biological and medical devices, and sustainable transport systems. Applications will be accepted until March 8.

The Call for exploratory research projects under the UTAustin-Portugal Program aims to promote and fund exploratory scientific projects proposed by teams of specialists and researchers. The research areas are those related to the CoLab - Emerging Technologies Research initiative (digital content, advanced computing, mathematics, nanotechnologies) and scientific areas defined in the context of the AIR Centre (space sciences; clean-tech energies; environment, atmospheric sciences and climate change; ocean sciences; and data science, cyber-infrastructures and e-science). Applications will be accepted until March 23.
