European Researchers' Night 2021

Today, September 24th, the cities of Lisbon, Braga, Coimbra and Évora host another European Researchers' Night, this year dedicated to environmental sustainability. The goal of this initiative is, once again, to put the public in interaction with researchers, who are involved in the organization of the event, and thus dispel the idea of the "distant and inaccessible scientist", as well as bring science closer to the citizens.

This year's evening is dedicated to environmental sustainability and the program is aligned with the European Green Pact, which proposes to be climate neutral by 2050 by promoting initiatives to protect the environment and boost the green economy. The detailed program per city is available on the initiative's website.

This meeting between science and citizens has been promoted by the European Commission since 2005, and this year again offers a very diverse set of activities for everyone to participate in, such as scientific experiments and demonstrations, workshops, conferences, hands-on workshops, games and quizzes, exhibitions, informal talks, debates and street animation.
