EURATOM Research and Training Program 2021-2025

The EURATOM Research and Training Programme 2021-2025, a complementary funding programme to Horizon Europe covering nuclear research and innovation, is promoting a Call for 16 calls until October 7, 2021 (17:00 Brussels time). These Calls are part of EURATOM's work program for 2021-2022.

In addition to these Calls the program is also promoting two awards:

- The Nuclear Innovation Prize, which aims to highlight and reward excellence in nuclear innovation in this field of research, as well as the quality of researchers and companies involved. There are two specific categories for this prize: 1. Nuclear Innovation Prize in safety of reactor systems; and 2. Nuclear Innovation Prize in radioactive waste management. Applications are now open until October 20, 2021.

- The SOFT Innovation Prize, which aims to highlight and reward excellence in innovation found in fusion research, as well as the quality of the researchers and industries involved. Applications take place from September 15, 2021 until January 18, 2022.

Researchers in the EURATOM fields can also find support for the development of their work by applying for Postdoctoral Fellowships of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) until October 12, 2021.

The European Atomic Energy Community (EURATOM) was established by the EURATOM Treaty in 1957, ensuring the sharing of knowledge, infrastructures and financing of nuclear energy. The FCT - Foundation for Science and Technology as one of the founding partners of the PERIN network (Portugal in Europe Research and Innovation Network) is responsible for promoting the EURATOM Program in Portugal, also ensuring the national representation. The EURATOM program has a budget of 1.38 billion euros which is divided into: 583 million euros for indirect actions in fusion research and development; 266 million euros for indirect actions in nuclear fission, safety and radiation protection; and 532 million euros for direct actions undertaken by the Joint Research Center.

FCT invites all those interested in receiving more information in the areas of nuclear energy and radiological protection to complete the following form/survey with their updated data, authorizing its use for this purpose, in accordance with the European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016/679.
