Science and Technology Week 2018

During this week, from November 19 to 25, the Science and Technology Week 2018 takes place. The Week is marked with numerous activities promoted by scientific institutions, universities, schools and museums, providing the public with opportunities for scientific observation and personal contact with experts from different fields of knowledge.

One of the highlighted areas is Space, with activities such as the SpaceTalks, which on November 23rd and 24th will bring to Porto the head of the Exomars 2020 Flight Operations team, the Portuguese Tiago Loureiro. His team is responsible for controlling and landing on Mars the spacecraft that carries the rover (robotic explorer vehicle) and the Roscosmos Surface Platform. On the 23rd, the ESA engineer will participate in a session at Cerco School, with high school students. On the 24th, he will participate in the initiative "3, 2, 1...Take off!!!" as part of the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Porto Planetarium, an event that will have activities all afternoon and for all ages.

The Space Talks are organized by ESA and promoted in Portugal by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) with the support of Ciência Viva.
