Science and Technology Week 2020

The Science and Technology Week is taking place from November 23 to 29 with numerous initiatives to disseminate science and technology organized by scientific institutions, universities, schools, museums and science centers throughout the country, in an initiative promoted and coordinated by Ciência Viva, under the slogan "Discover the science that is done in Portugal.

The celebrations of the National Day of Scientific Culture, marked on November 24, will take place this year in Porto. They begin with the session of the celebrations of 30 years of CBQF - Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry, the Faculty of Biotechnology, Catholic University of Porto, which will take place between 9:30 and 13:00. At 7pm, at the Monastery of São Bento da Vitória, the concert "Vivaldi and Mozart: The Time of Seasons" will take place, the last of the cycle of concerts with scientific prelude "Time in Music and Science", an initiative under the Exarp initiative, which will be preceded by the "Scientific Prelude: Time in Biodiversity" (online streaming).

The highlight of this year's Ciência Viva S&T Week 2020 program is the COVID debates "No, we will not talk about SARS-COV-2, COVID-19, but there is an elephant in the room", every day from 12:00 to 13:00, which are broadcast online on the Youtube platform. On November 27, at 3:00 pm, at the Pavilion of Knowledge, the Ciência Viva Awards will be presented, which recognize and encourage individual and collective effort in promoting scientific and technological culture in Portugal.
