Warm Up Sessions of the Science 2020 Meeting

In a preview of Science 2020 Meetingwhich will take place on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of November 2020, at Centro de Congressos de Lisboa, the event's organization promotes 3 warm up sessions, on the 14th, 21st and 26th of October, in Lisbon, Ponte de Sor and Porto.

The warm up sessions will feature the participation of national scientists specialized in the themes highlighted this year in the Science 2020 Meeting, whose main theme will be the importance and challenges of science, research and innovation in the recovery of Portugal in times of pandemic, making our country and Europe more resilient, more digital, greener, more social and more global. This debate is particularly relevant in the current context, as Portugal prepares to assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2021.

The 1st warm up session is entitled "Recovering Portugal with more knowledge, jobs and digital transformation" and will be held at the Pavilion of Knowledge, in Lisbon, on 14 October, at 11 am. This session will present the agenda for the Science 2020 Meeting, which will have the special participation of two Nobel Prize winners, among other renowned national and foreign scientists invited. This year, due to the current contingency situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, the logistics of the Science 2020 Meeting will be adjusted accordingly. The event will be face-to-face, with limitations according to the contingency plan of the Lisbon Congress Center. The event will be webstreamed, but all speaker presentations will be made in person. The program is being finalized and will soon be available on the site.

The Science Meeting is an annual event promoted by the Science and Technology Foundation in collaboration with the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture - Ciência Viva and the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science, Youth and Sports, and has the institutional support of the Government through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education. The initiative aims to promote a wide debate on the main topics and challenges of the scientific agenda, aiming to stimulate not only the participation but also the interaction between researchers, the business sector and the general public.
