Results of the 5th Call Scientific Employment Stimulus - Individual

FCT published today, August 1st, the provisional results of the Call de Estímulo ao Emprego Científico - Individual - 5ª Edição (CEEC Individual), in which more than 400 employment contracts are awarded to doctoral researchers in all scientific areas and which represents a financial investment of more than 120 million euros. In all 5 editions, the CEEC Individual has already awarded a total of 1900 contracts to researchers with doctorates.

In this 5th edition of the CEEC Individual, 2,890 applications were evaluated and the number of candidates who obtained a score of 8 or higher, on a scale of 1 to 10, was 1,458. The 400 researchers selected are distributed among four contract categories: 208 Junior Researcher, 153 Assistant Researcher, 38 Principal Researcher, and 1 Coordinating Researcher contracts. Women represent 58.8% of the selected candidates and researchers of foreign nationality represent 24% of the total, a decrease of 7.5% in comparison with the previous Call . The countries with the highest representation are: Spain (22 researchers), Italy (21), and Brazil (13). See the statistical summary.

The candidates were selected through an evaluation and ranking process carried out by 28 international panels. The distribution of contracts by category and scientific panel is proportional to the respective number of candidates evaluated.
After the announcement of the results, the period of prior hearing begins, during which candidates not selected may challenge the evaluation. The employment contracts must be signed between the researchers and the host institutions within 90 days after the signature of the program contracts between these institutions and FCT.

The Individual CEEC is one of the funding instruments for hiring researchers defined by the Scientific Employment Regulation launched in 2017 by FCT, following the publication of Decree-Law no. 57/2016. The Individual CEEC has been held annually since 2018. Below is a table with a summary of the 5 editions already completed.
